"The difference between great people and everyone else is that great people create their lives actively, while everyone else is created by their lives, passively waiting to see where life takes them next. The difference between the two is the difference between living fully and just existing." -- Michael E. Gerber, Author of The E-Myth RevisitedI love this quote. I often think about what makes life amazing and what makes it mediocre. We only have 70-90 summers, winters, springs, and falls if we're lucky. What we do in between that time that counts.
Living an amazing life has nothing to do with what you accomplish or not. It has everything to do with how you think, feel and how you act in the end.
It doesn't matter what job you pick rather how do you act, feel and think at that job? Let me give you an example. There is a receptionist named Kim at my dentists office. I love her. When you talk to her over the phone she immediately remembers who you are by the sound of your voice. Mind you I go only 2 times a year for a cleaning. I'm not a regular! When you're in the office she remembers who you're married to, if you have kids or not, asks you how you're doing and feeling and actually LISTENS and PAYS attention to YOU. She never says anything negative, never complains or whines and most importantly she smiles at you ear to ear. When the other "girls" are gossiping, she looks away and starts talking to the patients about their life. When her son and husband come in to take her for lunch, her eyes light up and she starts giggling.
When I've asked her how she's doing I'm always shocked at what is going on. It's not easy or mind blowing. It's quite difficult actually.
So I find her to be living an amazing life. A person who is proactive instead of reactive. Someone who has to deal with people's stuff all day long and still checks in with you. Someone who has decided to be in control of her thoughts, feelings and actions not based on what does, but who she wants to be.
Be that person for yourself! Amazing things will happen.
be well
